Electric Trunk Drive Back Door Mechanism for the GWM Tank 400
Power tail door lift gate open retrofitWhere the Tank 300 stops, the Tank 400 grows: a longer wheelbase, a broader rear aperture and a tail door that carries a full size wheel on the carrier from the showroom floor. Once a recovery board, a hi-lift bracket or a rear lamp guard is bolted to that door, the original gas struts are asked to do a job they were never sized for, and the panel begins to fall under its own weight.
Our answer is a two actuator conversion that mounts on the unchanged hinge and striker and adds a controller behind the trim. It draws power from the rear fuse box, keeps the factory plugs, and leaves no drilled hole or cut wire behind, so the car can be put back to standard before resale.
Two motorised actuators replace the struts on the factory ball studs, a controller sits behind the rear trim, and the harness plugs into the original connector. The door then opens and closes from the factory smart key, the tail door button and a dashboard switch, and the whole conversion can be reversed before the vehicle is sold.

Car electric trunk assembly rated for a wheel carrier. Each actuator produces 860 N and the pair carries a door mass of up to 65 kg, covering the panel with a steel wheel and tyre mounted on the carrier. Travel is speed controlled, so the door does not slam at the top or drop at the bottom.
Electric tailgate lift package with off road protection. The actuator is sealed to IP68, the controller stops the motor at the end of travel, park interlock prevents opening while the car is moving, and a 30A fuse protects the circuit. The opening height can be stored for low canopies and garage doors.

Fitting sequence
- Prop the door open and free both gas struts from their ball studs, then bag them for the glovebox.
- Bolt on the forged brackets and slide the motorised actuators into the original strut seats.
- Thread the harness through the tail gate grommet beside the factory loom and land it on the controller.
- Mount the dashboard switch, set the height limit, run two full cycles and test pinch reverse plus park interlock.
Packing and trade support
Actuator pairs sit in compartmented foam inside a reinforced carton of 94x29x27 cm, one set to a carton, with fasteners split by corner and a printed guide supplied in English, Russian or Arabic. Bench checks before sealing cover force curve, current draw, park interlock and reverse response. For importers we print neutral or private label cartons, add your own part numbers and translate the manual, and we hold spare actuators, controllers and switches so a claim never waits on a container.
