Aftermarket Power Tailgate Retrofit for Peugeot 2008 A94
Built for the first-generation Peugeot 2008 (A94, 2013-2019), this aftermarket power tailgate retrofit replaces the original manual gas struts with a motorised lift system and adds a control module that talks to the car through the factory body computer. The kit arrives as a complete set: two electric trunk lift actuators, a relay-integrated ECU, a pre-loomed harness, mounting brackets and a template sheet for the bracket positions. Nothing needs welding or drilling into structural metal, so the conversion is fully reversible if the vehicle is later sold in original condition.
What the Driver Actually Feels
- Electric tailgate lift kit retrofit — the hatch rises on its own after a press of the key fob, with soft-start at the beginning of travel and a cushioned stop at the top so the panel never slams.
- Automatic tail gate lift system — the ECU stores the last opening angle, so the hatch stops exactly where the owner parked it, useful in low basements and multi-storey car parks.
- Auto car lift boot opener — three triggers work in parallel: remote key, the cabin button on the dash, and the rubber handle switch on the hatch itself.
- Soft close finishing — on the closing stroke the latch is pulled in electrically over the final few centimetres, so passengers close the boot with a light touch and no rattle.
- Obstacle sensing — motor current is sampled 200 times per second; any spike reverses the hatch immediately.
- Manual fallback — if power is lost, the original strut release and key-operated lock still work exactly as before.

Installation Reality Check
The loom plugs into the factory tailgate connector; the only connection to the vehicle is a fused positive lead at the battery and a ground point behind the rear trim. Bracket holes align with the existing strut mounting studs, so the original ball pins are reused. A first fit normally takes 2 to 2.5 hours with basic hand tools; subsequent units in the same workshop take about 60 minutes. The instruction booklet is bilingual (English and Spanish) and each carton carries a QR code to a fitting video showing the A94 trim removal sequence.
Target Buyers
European aftermarket distributors covering French brands, accessory e-shops in Latin America and North Africa where the A94 sold strongly, taxi and private-hire operators running 2008 hatchbacks, and mobile fitters who install at customer addresses. One SKU covers the whole A94 production run, which simplifies inventory planning compared with models that changed strut design mid-cycle.
Packing and After-Sales
Units ship in a printed colour carton with moulded foam cradles; outer carton is a five-ply export box tested to a 1.2 m drop. Each set is bench-run before packing, with verification of stroke length, current profile, trigger response and obstacle reversal. Manufacturing follows ISO 9001:2015, warranty runs 18 months, and replacement actuators or ECUs can be ordered as separate service parts.
