Early production 580s are now seven to nine years old, and the gas springs have usually lost part of their charge. Owners either live with a hatch that drops or replace the springs and face the same problem again in a few seasons. This retrofit solves the cause rather than the symptom: two motorised struts take over the lifting work, a controller reads the factory latch, and the hatch opens and closes by button instead of by hand. Wiring plugs into the existing body connector, brackets bolt to the original studs, and nothing on the car is modified permanently.
Early Production Detail
Cars built between 2016 and 2018 use a different upper hinge and stud height from the later facelift and Pro versions. This kit carries the early bracket pair and an actuator matched to that shorter stroke, so the panel stops exactly where the factory geometry intends. Buyers should check the build plate before ordering; if the body turns out to be a later variant we exchange the bracket set before shipment at no cost.

Operation
Four triggers are supported: factory remote, cabin button, rear handle switch and foot sensor. The module checks gear position first, then releases the latch and ramps the struts up smoothly. Current is monitored continuously, so any obstruction stops and reverses the panel at once. Two open heights can be stored, the close is cushioned to spare the latch, and manual operation stays available if power is lost. After 30 seconds idle the system sleeps and draws under 0.1A.
