Retrofit Auto Power Tailgate for the GAC Trumpchi E8
The E8 is an MPV with a tall, wide rear door that owners open constantly when loading passengers and luggage. This retrofit system replaces the factory gas springs with powered actuators and adds a control module that handles key, switch and hands-free commands.
System Overview
Two actuators rated at 620 N per side drive the door through its full arc and slow it down before the latch. The module samples the vehicle state, warns bystanders with three beeps, and reverses the door the moment the hall sensors or the current monitor detect an obstacle. Height can be stored so the door stops clear of a low canopy or garage frame.
Design and Materials
- Anodised aluminium actuator tube with stainless steel rod inside, sealed end caps and IPX5 protection.
- Powder coated steel hinge brackets shaped for the E8 mounting points, with handed left and right versions.
- Harness with moulded plugs and a fused power tap, routed through the original boot grommet.
- Control module with a sealed case, mounted behind the rear quarter trim away from moisture.
- Optional foot sensor bar for hands-free opening, which suits MPV use with children or bulky cargo.

Application
Well suited to family MPV owners, chauffeur and shuttle services, hotel and airport transfer fleets, and accessory dealers who already supply the Trumpchi range. In shuttle work the powered door shortens loading time and removes the need for a driver to walk around the vehicle to close the boot.
Packing and Logistics
One vehicle set per carton, 90 x 27 x 25 cm, chosen to protect the longer MPV actuators. Struts are sleeved in EPE, brackets are bagged separately, and hardware is counted into numbered bags with a printed checklist. Two cartons go into a master carton, and pallet loading is available for container orders.
Compliance Notes
The installation keeps the original latch, central locking and alarm logic untouched, so the vehicle's security behaviour does not change. Instructions in English are supplied in every carton, and a wiring diagram per side is included for the workshop.
