Electric Tailgate Lift Kit for the GAC Trumpchi GS8
The GS8 carries a large, heavy rear door. This kit gives it electric drive with actuators rated at 650 N per side, so the lid opens and closes on command even when loaded with a roof rack and wet weather seals.
Overview
Two powered struts replace the factory gas springs. A control module mounted behind the rear quarter trim handles the logic, reading the original remote, the cabin switch and the tailgate handle. The harness ends in moulded plugs that mate with the GS8 loom, so no wiring is cut and the factory latch, central locking and alarm keep full control of the lock state.
Highlights
- 650 N actuators sized for the GS8 door mass, with a slow final approach before the latch.
- Aftermarket retrofit brackets that reuse the factory hinge bolt pattern on both sides.
- Optional kick sensor bar for hands-free opening when carrying luggage or shopping.
- Reverse on contact within a fraction of a second, driven by hall position feedback.
- Three warning beeps before every movement, plus a manual override that always stays active.
- Opening height can be stored, which helps in older garages and low-roof car parks.

Installation Requirements
A two-post lift is not needed, but the rear headliner trim does have to come down to route the harness. Expect two to three hours for a technician who has done the job before. Torque values, bracket orientation and the self-learn sequence are printed in the manual, and a wiring diagram is included for each side.
Warranty and Support
Each set is cycled on a rig with a simulated door mass before packing. If a unit fails within the warranty window we ship a replacement actuator or module against photos of the fault, and our engineers will walk a workshop through diagnostics by video call when needed.
